Welcome to bArLowS Team page!
If you have made it to this page, you probably know me and/or John and know of his diagnosis with ALS. Thank you for making it this far, we hope you feel ready to help us by making a donation, or showing your support to John by walking with us at the Cincinnati ALS walk on September 17, 2023 at Winton Woods.
Maybe you are familiar with ALS, maybe you need a brief definition: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
Hearing the words, "You have ALS," is life-changing, and something I wouldn't wish on anyone. But since John's doctor spoke those words to him, we have seen a tremendous outpouring of love and support for him and for our family.
This fall, John hopes to be surrounded by family and friends as we walk the lovely park at Winton Woods for our second ALS walk. We hope to raise plenty of funds for our local ALS chapter, while also increasing awareness and showing our love and support to other families who are also living with ALS.
Walkers of all fitness levels are welcome, and donations of all sizes are most greatly appreciated. We hope to see you there.
