ALS United Ohio has been a client of mine for many years but two years ago the battle against ALS became personal when my Father in Law, Dr. Donald Hammer, was diagnosed with ALS. Last year Team Hammer Strong was able to raise over $15,000, and this year we’d like to increase that to $20,000. Please follow my link and get to our team page. I have a minuscule individual goal because we want the donations to go through my daughter Emma if possible. She’s passionate about helping her Papa and others with his disease. However if that navigation isn’t being friendly it’s all going to the same place and we appreciate it.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. We see the reality of this disease daily and I can tell you that your donations are felt directly by families through the support of ALS United Ohio. Trust me when I say that no donation is too small. It all makes a tremendous difference to the families affected and the research that needs done. 

 

That's why I'm walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again. 

 

The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. 

 

But we can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
