Welcome to My Personal Page
In 2014, my mom, Donna O?Connell, was diagnosed with ALS ? the devastating disease that changed her life. Just 20 months later, in December 2015, we lost her. She was my best friend, an amazing mother, wife, and ?MiMi.? Watching this cruel disease take over her body and devastate our family was heartbreaking.
That same year, Donna?s Warriors was formed by family and friends who loved her. Each year, we walk in her memory to raise funds and awareness for ALS. This year marks 10 years without her, and we continue to walk with love, hope, and determination.
The Walk to Defeat ALS raises critical funds to support those affected and to fuel the urgent search for treatments and a cure. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. The average life expectancy is just 2?5 years from diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and today there is still no known cause or cure.
That?s why we walk. For those who can?t. For those who are fighting now. And for those we have lost. We want to change the statistics and ensure no one ever hears the words, ?You have ALS,? again.
Our local walk will take place at Ariel-Foundation Park (Kiwanis Pavilion) in Mount Vernon. With your support, we can make a difference for families living with ALS right here in Ohio. Every donation goes directly toward research and support, and all gifts are tax-deductible.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us honor my mom and for supporting this important cause.
With gratitude,
Amy
