It's the tenth anniversary of Team Kammerer Kadets and we remain committed to raise money to help folks living with ALS.  

September, 2015 wasn't the first year my husband, Matt and I "WalkedALS" but it was his last.  Seven months into this dreadful diagnosis, my athletic husband knew that his days of standing on his own two feet were numbered.  When 2016 Walk time rolled around, he led and inspired the Team from a wheelchair.  For the 2017 Walk, we arrived at Winton Woods Park in a van with a power lift to accommodate the "Mercedes"; our nickname for the power wheelchair he was determined to learn to operate so as to maintain some independence. 

 

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease with an average life expectancy of just two to five years.  Former New York Yankee, and one of the greatest baseball players of all time, Lou Gehrig, 

 

During our three years of ALS, we had terrific support.  First, the I can't top Matt's courage or tenacity but I can make him proud by continuing his fight through the annual walk.  The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
