In 2014 my mom Donna O'Connell was dianosed with ALS the beast that changed her life, 20 months late my mom passed away in 2015. She was my best friend, an amazing mother, wife and a MiMi.  I watched this horrific disease take over my mom and devastate our family. Donna's Warriors was formed in 2014 by family and friends who loved mom, we walk each year in memory of her to raise funds and awareness of ALS. This year marks 10 years since ALS affected my family and since Donna Warriors was formed.  Thank you for helping me reach my ALS fundraising goal! Walk ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

 

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is NO known cause or cure.

 

That's why I/we advocate for ALS United and we participate in the WalkALS - for those who can't. We want to change the statistics. We want to bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You have ALS" again. 

 

This year the WalkALS is Sunday, Sept. 15th in Columbus, Ohio. We are organizing a local ALS walk the same day, Sept. 15th at Ariel-Foundation Park (Kiwanis Pavilion) Mount Vernon from 9am-11am. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. Your donation will go directly to the effort for a cure and the support of those living in Ohio with ALS. All donations are tax deductible.
