Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for helping me reach my Walk ALS fundraising goal! Walk ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
My father Matt was diagnosed with ALS in 2015, and after a long and drawn out battle, he lost his life on December 18th, 2017. My dad was my hero my entire life and still is, which is why even though he's gone I'm still passionate about the cause. My dad enjoyed the bengals and everything football related and he loved the sport of swimming, even through his ALS he never missed one of my meets. Matt was an easygoing guy, you could almost always find him with a big lip of Grizzly Long Cut Mint in, sipping on a bud light, and talking about anything and everything.
Throughout his battle we were blessed in so many ways. ALS requires a lot of expensive medical equipment which my family could not afford. The ALS Loan Closet is an organization that allows those struggling with ALS to have the necessary tools/equipment to prolong their life, not only does your donation help fund research for a cure, it also helps those still battling ALS.
The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
The main reason I find myself still walking and fundraising every year is because I've seen firsthand the damage and genuine torture it brings along with it. I want to help those still fighting the good fight have the best possible experience they can and eventually hope that no one will ever have to deal with this horrible disease.
Please consider donating/spreading the word. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.
